A dynamic bidirectional coupled surface flow model for flood inundation simulation

چکیده

Abstract. Flood disasters frequently threaten people and property all over the world. Therefore, an effective numerical model is required to predict impacts of floods. In this study, a dynamic bidirectional coupled hydrologic–hydrodynamic (DBCM) developed with implementation characteristic wave theory, in which boundary between these two models can dynamically adapt according local flow conditions. The proposed accounts for both mass momentum transfer on coupling was validated via several benchmark tests. results show that DBCM effectively reproduce process flood propagation also account surface interaction non-inundation inundation regions. implemented floods simulation occurred at Helin Town located Chongqing, China, shows capability risk early warning future management.

Distributed Simulation of City Inundation by Coupled Surface and Subsurface Porous Flow for Urban Flood Decision Support System

We present a decision support system for flood early warning and disaster management. It includes the models for datadriven meteorological predictions, for simulation of atmospheric pressure, wind, long sea waves and seiches; a module for optimization of flood barrier gates operation; models for stability assessment of levees and embankments, for simulation of city inundation dynamics and citiz...

Groundwater recharge simulation using a coupled saturated-unsaturated flow model

Abstract The coupled MODFLOW-HYDRUS software package was used to produce a saturated-unsaturated flow model for a Flood Spreading System (FSS) and its associated aquifer. The study aim to improve simulations of near-surface hydrological processes, including temporal and spatial variation in groundwater recharge rates. The coupled model was built with average RMSE=1.1 and 1.3 for calibration ...

A New Rapid Flood Inundation Model

In this study, we propose a new Rapid Flood Inundation Model (RFIM). The purpose of the RFIM is to generate predictions of water depth and flood extent using less computer resource than required by two-dimensional shallow water equation models (SWEMs). To be useful the RFIM must produce predictions that are comparable with those obtained from SWEMs. The model described here is an improvement on...

A New Method for Urban Storm Flood Inundation Simulation with Fine CD-TIN Surface

Urban storm inundation, which frequently has dramatic impacts on city safety and social life, is an emergent and difficult issue. Due to the complexity of urban surfaces and the variety of spatial modeling elements, the lack of detailed hydrological data and accurate urban surface models compromise the study and implementation of urban storm inundation simulations. This paper introduces a Const...

GIS and Flood Inundation Model-Based

Abstract: This paper presents the methodology and procedure for flood risk assessment using GIS and flood inundation model (FIM) based on the “micro-zonation concept” in which an entire floodplain considered is divided into numerous unit areas (meshes or grids). In this study, Shinkawa-river floodplain around Nagoya City of Aichi Prefecture in Japan an urbanized lowland area, which was greatly ...
